The next release of Reporting Services is scheduled to be released in 2009 and is part of a larger Business Intelligence release code named Kilimanjaro. In this release several new features will be added, the most notable being a map component, allowing users to feature geographical maps in their reports.

Hi!

I'm thinking about an new Google Maps solution.
Since Microsoft Reporting Services is being more and more populair it should be usefull if you can include an Google Map on your Report to locate your sales perfomance etc.

What do you think of this ??

Free version

Since i'm leaved the WordConnect company the CrmMaps development and deployment has been stopped for a while. So if you have requested a free version please wait some time, we will send you the version asap.

Error message

Very often this error occurs when people install the CrmMaps solution:

Sorry for don't updating my blog for a while but i went very busy with upgrading some other addons (www.wordconnect.eu) to Microsoft CRM 4.0

I expect version 1.0 will be released very soon. This will include some routing stuff.

My company has also decided to let WordConnect (MailMerge) use CrmMaps (If installed). The result will be that you can check your the locations of your mailing on CrmMaps before sending. If you are interested to let CrmMaps work with your product / add-on, please let me know!

Working with the Outlook Client

There are some problems with the outlook client in the current beta releases (2/3). I will do some research and keep you updated.

Question: Can i also display leads and oppurtunities with your software

Yes. Follow these steps:

1. You have to create an field on the forms of this entities were you can an location.
2. Add this field to the entry CustomerAddressSearchFields in the web.config
3. Create an new entry leadMapDisplayFields which contains the fields you want to display in the Google Marker.
4. Now you were we able to show all your leads / oppurtunities in one map.

Creating an IFrame with the Google Maps

Follow these instructions to create an iframe with the google map page.

1. Create an new iframe for an entity (you can use each entitiy)
2. The url should be /mscrmgooglemaps/default.aspx
3. Enable to option: Pass record object-code and unique identifier as parameters
4. disable: Restrict cross-frame scripting.
5. Save & Publish

Beta version

Beta 3 is available now. There were some errors in Beta 2 regarding addresses without an name and displaying more then 45 records in a map.

isv.config

If you use the most recent beta you can also displaying multiple entities in one map. You have to create an isv.config record for this. Hereby an example:

MenuItem Title="Show map" JavaScript="window.open('/mscrmgooglemaps/default.aspx?typename=account', 'WordConnect', 'menubar=no,status=yes,toolbar=no,width=800,height=600')"

Important is that you define the EntityType (Typename).

Titan Support (Update!)

Because many people asked for it: i'am currently testing the software if it's working on CRM 4.0. When testing is finished i'll you know asap.

Just doing some tests and i can tell you that's working for 100%. Thanks to Jan Nauta for the support.

Idea

I'am thinking about some new functionality:

I think that it will be very usable to show different markers (colors) for different selections. Let's give an example:

- Give all member accounts an red marker and all the other accounts and yellow one.
- Give all clients and blue marker, prospects and red one and all other an orange one.
- Give all client with an turnover of more than € 10.000.000 an red color.
- Give all accounts marked as Partner an blue color.

Do you think this would be usable ? Let me know!

Grid Support

This evening i've build support for displaying the addresses / fields in a map for alle accounts / contact / custom entities in an google map.

When the map is opened the program collects all available addresses show you can decide which address you want to show in the map. As also in the current release it's also possible to show all addresstypes (for all accounts / contacts) in one map.

End of this week this functionality will be released as beta.

I will also write an document with an description of all the functions of the addin. It will be available begin of this week through this site.

New functionality

Next week the functionality which integrates Google Maps into the contact and account grids / views will be delivered. With that functionality you will be able to display all customer in The Netherlands in one map.

new function

Today i've build some new functionality.

The maps can also display data form custom entities without any contact or account.

You can configure this by just:

1. Add an extra field to CustomerAddressSearchFields which contain an street or an city.
2. Add an new entry with the name new_entityMapDisplayFields
3. Fill in the fields you want to display in the marker in this entry.

Overview of functions

In this item i will keep an list of all the functions of the program which were available.

1. Show (one or more) customaddress records for an single account of contact in one map.
2. Show (one or more) customaddress records for all accounts / contacts in an grid.
3. Show data from each custom entity on an map
4. Show data from each custom entity in an grid on an map.
5. Configure the fields which were displayed in the google 'balloon'
6. Configure the fields which were mentioned to search for adresses by google.
7. Supporting CRM 4.0
8. Multilanguage. Default: German, French, Dutch, English, Romanian, Russian.

1. Create an webpage to view the settings.
2. Build an MSI to deploy the app.
3. Finishing the layout of the configuration file

Version 1.0 will be released this week, before i have to do some work for stability, deployment and documentation.

Last week i finished version 1 of the software. I've created support for contacts and accounts and also convert my code to .net 1.1 for support MSCRM 3.0.

An download will be available end of this week, i assume.

today,

I finished my address selector and did some layout items. Tomorrow i will start with the configuration file which let you select were the address fields can be found and which account / contact data should be displayed.

Some ideas i currently have:

1. Support muliple address types
2. Show extra information on map from account / contacts
3. Displaying multiple accounts in one map (By example projectteams, or search results)
4. Integrate with custom entitys
5. Convert my code to asp.net v1.1 to work IN mscrm :(
6. auto-resize the map image to the screen size
7. Make an installation procedure
